First completed translation from decisions rendered prior to 1970

To mark its 150th anniversary, the Supreme Court of Canada is translating some of its most significant decisions rendered prior to the coming-into-force of the Official Language Act in 1970. We are pleased to share the first completed translation from this initiative: Roncarelli v. Duplessis (1959).

This translation is part of a broader effort guided by an independent committee of legal experts which recommended 24 significant Supreme Court decisions that should, in their opinion, be translated. Read the full decision.
